Earlier this year, Samsung introduced the all-new Galaxy M series by launching the Galaxy M10, Galaxy M20, and Galaxy M30 smartphones. From the last couple of months, there are also leaks about the Galaxy M40 smartphone. Now, the Samsung Galaxy M40 smartphone with the model number SM-M405F/DS was spotted on the Wi-Fi certification website. However, there is not much information revealed through this listing. It is confirmed to run on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box and supports Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac.
Unlike the newly launched the Galaxy A smartphones, the Galaxy M smartphones came with Android 8.1 Oreo-based Samsung Experience UI. Now, the Galaxy M40 will become the first Galaxy M smartphone to run on the all-new One UI based on Android 9.0 Pie. While the Galaxy M10 and M20 came with Infinity-U display with IPS panel, the Galaxy M30 used the AMOLED panel. The upcoming Galaxy M40 should also come with Super AMOLED Infinity-U display offering Full HD+ resolution. We should be seeing more leaks about this device in the coming weeks.
While the Galaxy A device came with a premium-looking glossy finish body, the company opted for the Matte finish polycarbonate body for the Galaxy M series. We are expecting the Galaxy M40 to come with a better processor than the 14nm Exynos 7904 octa-core chipset used on the Galaxy M30. The Galaxy M30 came with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) display. It is available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage respectively.
In terms of optics, the device offers triple camera setup on the rear featuring a 13MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 5MP ultra-wide angle camera with 123-degree field-of-view. For selfies, there is a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. It came with a 5,000mAh battery and offered 15W fast charging. We also expect the upcoming Galaxy M40 to come with the same battery capacity. With the new Galaxy M and Galaxy A smartphones, Samsung is now giving a tough fight to the Chinese manufacturers like Xioami and Honor.
The company recently launched a few Galaxy A smartphones including the high-end Galaxy A80 with a new Infinity display and pop-up rotating camera. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
